If you keep these items in your house, you can always find something “Voltage Approved” to eat:
Plain oatmeal
Real maple syrup
Fruit, fruit and more fruit
Raw nuts
Natural peanut butter (no sugar, no salt added)
Cottage cheese (try to get organic and low-sodium if possible)
Plain yogurt
String cheese
Hard boiled eggs
Carrots (Peel and cut the real thing. Baby carrots cut up whole carrots soaked in chemicals to preserve them.)
Hummus (Sabra is the yummiest)
Cherry tomatoes
Veggies, veggies, veggies (if you don’t like to make them, buy some grilled or roasted)
Treat yourself to good Balsamic Vinegar – it makes anything taste awesome!
Olive oil
Lettuce mixes
Baked potatoes
Brown rice
Frozen broccoli
Canned beans (black, chickpea, kidney, lentils, etc.) – just look for no salt-added or rinse them.
Skinless boneless chicken breasts (you can get frozen pre-cooked, make them yourself or pick them up at the store – I love Bell and Evans from Whole Foods). Try to use organic, antibiotic-free when possible.
Avocado
Tuna or salmon packed in water
Lowfat mayo
Lara Bars
Apple Crisps
WASA Bread
Polaner All Fruit
Splenda
Mrs. Dash (or other salt-free seasonings)
Hidden Valley salt-free canned soups, chili, etc.
Things like Lara Bars, Apple Crisps, raw nuts and carrots all make great snacks you can keep in your backpack!
